Washington State Festivals to Eat, Drink & Be Merry in 2018

Washingtonians love to get out and celebrate the good things in life. Luckily, the Pacific Northwest excels at many of those things such as brewing great craft beer, making world class wines and cooking up creative and delicious food. This is why there are so many awesome Washington State Festivals that involve craft beverages and tasty bites.

The following list of events and festivals in Washington State are some of the most popular but there are probably hundreds more out there put together by fun loving communities. The location and theme may differ but what remains a constant is the assurance that you will not be bored, hungry or thirsty and will likely come away with new friends and new delicious favorites.

Taste Washington

March 22-25 at Century Link Field and other locations around Seattle

A wine and food lovers paradise that will make you forget the rainy days of a Pacific Northwest springtime. For four decadent days more than 235 Washington wineries, 65 restaurants and 60 culinary exhibitors will be busy serving up glasses and plates full of deliciousness for your tasting pleasure. Aside from the tastings there will also be seminars and special events.


Seattle Scotch & Beer Fest

March 30-31 at Fremont Studios, Seattle

All about tasting beer, scotch and whiskey in aid of the fantastic cause of Seattle Humane. As if that wasn’t enough reason to go there will also be seminars, a bottle shop and yummy food from the Lumpia World mobile truck.

 


Seattle Restaurant Week

April 2-19 at various restaurants around Seattle

Forget grocery shopping, this is definitely the week to eat out. Over 165 Seattle restaurants are offering gourmet 3-course dinners for just $33 and many will also have 2-course lunches for only $18!

 


Seattle Cheese & Meat Festival

April 28 at McCaw Hall

A Festival showcasing local and international meats and cheese paired with wine, beer and cider? Who wouldn’t love this event? Stroll through the venue sipping and tasting of the artisanal treats and then shop for your favorite bites and sips to take home with you.

 


Fremont Fair

June 16 & 17 in Fremont neighborhood

A fantastic, fun way to kick off summer with the famous Solstice Parade and nearly 400 artists, musicians and vendors creating a colorful neighborhood street fair and festival. Of course there will also be plenty of food and a large beverage garden for satisfying that thirst.

 


Ballard Seafood Fest

July 13-15 in the streets of Downtown Ballard

What started in 1971 as a fund raising BBQ for the Chamber of Commerce has evolved into a 2-day celebration attracting over 60,000 people to the streets of Ballard. Be prepared to eat your fill of fresh seafood while being entertained by local artists and sipping local brews of wine in the beer garden.


Bite of Seattle

This food and beverage showcase at Seattle Center has won for best food festival the past two years for good reason. Featuring over 60 restaurants and food vendors, craft beer, wine and cider tastings, live music and cooking shows and of course several beer gardens you will want to spend the whole weekend here.

 


Capitol Hill Block Party

July 20-22 in the Heart of Capitol Hill Peopel watching a concert

A 3-day music festival and block party with both indoor and outdoor venues featuring local and international artists this is the place to enjoy an amazing weekend of talented musicians. Many of the local bars and restaurants get involved and there is also a food truck lot and multiple beer gardens.

 


Kirkland Uncoorked

July 13-15 at Marina Park, Kirkland

If you love wine, food and animals you can’t miss this event. This summer wine festival is a benefit for The Homeward Pet Adoption and has something for all ages. There is the 21+ Tasting Garden with Washington wine tasting, live music and great food and then there’s the all ages street fair with food trucks, a market, and a dog show.


Seattle International Beerfest

July 6-8 at Seattle Center

This 3-day specialty beer festival has been running for over 17 years so you know it must be good. If you like to try new things this is the event for you. There will be everything from traditional classics to exotic hybrids for your tasting pleasure and it’s all set in the fabulous Seattle Center’s Fisher Lawn and Pavilion.

 


Seattle Street Food Festival

July 7 & 8 at South Lake Union

Four city blocks in South Lake Union will be filled with over 150 booths of great local food and urban crafts. There will also be a beer garden and entertainment on site and the best part is there is no admittance fee!

 

 


Tasting Flight 

July 27 at Woodland Park Zoo Two bottles of red wine and basket of corks

Wine tasting takes place at the North Meadow of Woodland Park Zoo and there will be zoo stations and animal encounters but the event does not include access to the zoo itself. However, if you save your tickets you will get $5 off a future zoo admission. Proceeds go to support Woodland Park Zoo.

 


Sunset Supper at the Market

A mouth watering event that takes place at one of Seattle’s most iconic locations. Sunset Supper at the Market is a joint effort of some of the area’s best restaurants, wineries, breweries and distilleries who put together a special meal accompanied by live music and dancing under the stars.

 


Bumbershoot

September 1-3 at Seattle Center The fountain and Space Needle at Seattle Center

This mega festival has been running for well over 40 years and is one of the best loved festivals in the Northwest. It is a multi-faceted event which showcases all forms of art from music to comedy to visual to theater, film and dance, you will find all that and more at Bumbershoot. Of course you will need sustenance for this 3-day event and they have that covered as well with a multitude of food stands, beer gardens and wine and spirit tasting tents. If you only go to one festival this year make it Bumbershoot!


Fremont Oktoberfest

September 21-23 in Fremont

Touted as Seattle’s biggest fall beer festival Fremont will be pouring more than 80 local and international craft beers to celebrate the season German style. There will be beer gardens, of course, plus fun events like Dogtoberfest and a Chainsaw Pumpkin Carving Contest.

 

 


Washington State Festivals Outside Seattle

 

Capitol Food & Wine Festival 

March 24 at St Martin’s Marcus Pavilion, Lacey

A community celebration serving more than 100 Washington wines as well as craft beer and delicious Northwest food.

Anacortes Spring Wine Festival

April 7 at Port Warehouse Event Center, Anacortes

Take a trip to the charming town of Anacortes for their spring wine festival where you can taste from more than 30 Pacific Northwest wineries. There will also be sweet and savory food pairings from local vendors and restaurants as well as a wine shop so you can take home a bottle or tow of your new favorite vintage. Plus you’re in the perfect place and time to view the Skagit Valley tulips.

Vancouver Brewfest

April 13 & 14 at Esther Shore Park, Vancouver

A celebration of craft beer that also acts as a charity fund raiser in support of various local charities. There will be plenty of local brews, ciders and even mead pouring as well as tasty food and entertainment.

Celebrate Walla Walla Valley Wine

June 14-16 at locations throughout Walla Walla

Walla Walla Valley winemakers as well as international guest winemakers will pair with local chefs to explore the Merlot varietal. There will be tastings, dinners and panel presentations over the course of this event and the focus will all be on the lovely Merlot.

Washington Brewers Festival

June 15-17 at Marymoor Park, Redmond

The Washington Beer Commission hosts this annual event where beer lovers come to beautiful Marymoor Park to sample over 500 beers from 130 Washington breweries. There will also be wine and cider tastings, food trucks and entertainment. Oh and if you have kids there’s no need for a babysitter as it’s open to all ages. There will even be kids entertainment and a rootbeer garden.

Taste of Tacoma

June 22-24 at Point Defiance Park, Tacoma

Featuring over 40 restaurants and vendors, four live music and cooking stages, a wine bar, craft beer tastings, beer gardens and a carnival there will be fun had by all.

Gig Harbor Wine & Food Festival

July 27-29 at Locations around Gig Harbor

A celebration of Washington’s wine, beer, spirits and food. Festivities include a block party, a pier to table dinner and champagne brunches.

Taste Edmonds

August 10-12 at Civic Center Playfield, Edmonds

This will be the 36th year for Taste Edmonds and they are listed in the “Top 100 North American Festivals” This year there will be 3 days of food, music, entertainment, rides and a great beer and wine garden.

Wenatchee Wine and Food Festival

August 26 at Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center

An evening of pourings of over 100 wines from more than 30 wineries plus tastings of amazing cuisine, craft beer, cider and spirits enhanced with live musical entertainment and an outdoor cigar bar. The tickets are all inclusive for food and drink tastings which is phenomenal!

Inland NW Craft Beer Festival

September 21 & 22 at Avista Stadium, Spokane

A Northwest craft beer festival with 40 breweries pouring more than 150 types of brews. Of course there will also be food and entertainment and in keeping with the venue some baseball themed fun.

Harvest Wine Tour

November 10 & 11 at Olympic Peninsula

Head over to the beautiful Olympic Peninsula for the weekend and tour the nine artisan wineries who will be opening their doors for wine tasting paired with small bites.
